Bigfork Valley is a diversified health care campus in the heart of the northern Minnesota lakes and pines country. On the shores of the Big Fork River, our facility offers state of the art medical services and a variety of senior living options , all under one roof. On February 18, 2006, we opened our exciting new Surgery Center, inpatient rooms and Emergency Department. Our construction project continues, and by fall of 2006 we will have expanded our rehabilitation department and retail pharmacy and added a new fitness center. Our commitment to the best in patient care continues a tradition that began in 1938 when doctors visited homesteads in the wilderness by dogsled. Today our patients can expect quality medical care in a home town environment. Our senior services include a continuum of care: homecare services to help seniors remain in their own home, adult day stay for seniors to socialize with others and for caregiver respite, independent and assisted living apartments along the river, and rehabilitation and long term care options. Our long term care facility, the Bigfork Valley Communities, was a pioneer of change from the medical model to a social model of living in 1999. We embraced the Eden Alternative philosophy and other progressive ideas to bring living decisions of everyday life closer to our elders. Our long term care facility receives many visitors during the year and is internationally recognized.
