Materials Testing and Consulting (MTC) was founded in 1981. Over the years we've grown from a small testing laboratory in Mount Vernon, WA to a full-service geotechnical engineering, special inspection and materials testing corporation serving all of Western Washington. Niall and Terri Hackett became the owners of the company in 1995. Under the stewardship of the Hacketts, MTC flourished and developed into a regional force in the industry. Curtis Shear and Brian Steele became co-owners of MTC in 2002. Curtis is MTC's materials testing division manager and has facilitated the development of 3 fully certified laboratories with excellent reputations for accuracy and fast turn-around. Under the management of Brian Steele, MTC's geotechnical division has steadily expanded capabilities to include consulting for large scale commercial, industrial, and public works projects. In 2004, MTC opened our Bellingham office. This NW Regional office is overseen by Aaron Isle. Also in 2004 Steve Barrie attained the certification of WABO Technical Director, adding yet another level of competence and expertise to the company. Steve also became a partner in 2008. In July of 2007, to better accommodate our continued growth, MTC relocated it's Centralia, WA office to Olympia, WA. This new expanded facility will help us to better serve our clients in SW Washington. Jason Dearborn is the Regional Manager for the Olympia office, Mike Southard is the Technical Director and the laboratory is overseen by Tim Barney.
