Leadership Logan County is a community development program of the Logan County Area Chamber of Commerce. It is funded, in part, by area businesses to promote future leadership in Logan County. The program enables people with diverse backgrounds and experiences to broaden their perspectives, enhance their leadership skills and learn from others who are active in their communities. The program is designed for those who wish to gain knowledge, skills, experience and commitment needed to be effective leaders in their community and profession. These attributes enable them to better address community needs and opportunities, which in turn helps to create informed, civic-minded leaders in the Logan County area. The program comprises of nine half-day sessions held the second Wednesday of each month, September - May. Each session is held at pertinent sites in Logan County. All participants are required to attend each session and graduation from the program is in June. Topics of the program include Leadership Behavior, Public Education, Strategic Planning, Local Government, Conflict Management, Courts and Law Enforcement, Personality Styles, Agriculture, Public Speaking, Economic Development, Media, Health Services, Social Services, Industry Tours, Critical issues within Logan County, exposure to various service organizations, school districts and non-profit boards. Topics are covered through guest speakers, group exercises, tours, simulations, discussions and group projects. Benefits of the Leadership Logan County Program include the following: Participants will return to their sponsoring businesses and organizations with more awareness and sensitivity to issues facing their organization and community. Participants will establish a network that crosses social, economic, and jurisdictional lines. Participants will join a growing group of people within Logan County who have a greater understanding and appreciation of community issues, and the vision and skills needed to address those issues. Selection criteria for the program are as follows:Residency in Logan County. Full support and encouragement of employer/sponsor and spouse. Demonstrated commitment, interest, and motivation in serving the area in a volunteer, appointed or elected leadership role. A potential position of leadership in order to influence important issues facing the community/county. Demonstrated commitment by past community/county/family activities. Demonstrated knowledge of the community and, most importantly, a concern for what is happening. Demonstrated occupational commitment to remain in Logan County or is not likely to be transferred in the immediate future. Willingness to commit the time and energy needed to complete all requirements of the program. Applications may be obtained online or from the Logan County Area Chamber of Commerce. Nominations may be made by individuals, firms or organizations.
