McCabe Ambulance Service ("McCabe") has been the sole emergency service provider for the city of Bayonne since the early 1980s. Founded by H. Mickey McCabe in 1973, McCabe began as a household operation with a single ambulance and family members answering calls at all hours of the day and night. Since its inception, McCabe has developed into one of the most elite and professional operations in the state of New Jersey.Functioning on many different levels, McCabe's areas of operation include:911 emergency dispatch BLS inter-facility transport hospital wheelchair transport wheelchair van transport Board of Education transport for special needs children our new Specialty Care Transport division that operates daily with a full-time Registered Nurse. We function as the only privately operated and licensed E-911 dispatch center in the state of New Jersey. All of our dispatchers are New Jersey Certified Emergency Medical Dispatchers, trained in call-taking and pre-arrival instruction. The McCabe Institute of Emergency Preparedness (M.I.E.P.) is McCabe's own training agency. The M.I.E.P. is one of only 52 American Heart Association certified training agencies in New Jersey. In addition, the M.I.E.P. is recognized by the National Safety Council in First Aid training. In maintaining its reputation as one of the finest EMS outfits in the state, McCabe prides itself on serving its patients with the cleanest and most up-to-date equipment on the market. It is not unusual to hear that McCabe has the nicest ambulances around. All of our vehicles are no more three years old and shine as brightly as they did when first purchased. All vehicles are thoroughly inspected each day by a tour supervisor before they are put into service. McCabe Ambulance Service is comprised of a very special team, one whose reputation speaks volumes.
