We are a quiet, family-owned lakeside resort in the heart of the majestic San Juan Mountains. Our resort is located on Vallecito Lake approximately 25 miles northeast of Durango in southwest Colorado. We are open from mid May through September. Six large, modern lakeshore cabins in the tall pines of beautiful Vallecito Valley provide a convenient location for family fun. Our cabins are located on the lakeshore where the Pine River enters Vallecito Lake. They provide a breath-taking setting for those seeking a relaxing retreat in the midst of tremendous recreational opportunity. Vallecito offers great lake and stream fishing, boating, and windsurfing, hiking and horseback riding or pack trips into the Weminuche Wilderness. Fishing gear and licenses, grocery store, laundromat, boat rental, and a boat launch ramp are all within a short walk. Several fine restaurants and cafes nearby offer dining out opportunities. Southwest Colorado offers many vacation opportunities including: riding the Durango/Silverton Narrow Gauge Train, visiting Mesa Verde National Park, whitewater rafting, mine tours, Durango Mountain Resort's alpine slide, the Ignacio Casino, Bar-D Chuckwagon dinner/show, or a Durango dinner/melodrama. All of our cabins have cozy fireplaces (firewood provided), modern baths and fully equipped kitchens. They feature grassy lawns, picnic tables, gas grills, lawn furniture, and private lakefront access. Our large playground has swings and sandbox, volleyball, and horseshoes.
