Texas Lawyers' Insurance Exchange is a Texas reciprocal insurance exchange founded in 1979. TLIE is owned by its member insureds and is operated by a member-elected board of directors. In the past three years, we have returned $8.25 million to our members. We currently serve about 1200 member firms with 3500 attorneys. TLIE only provides insurance to lawyers and firms headquartered in Texas. TLIE itself is an underwriter of professional liability insurance for attorneys and judges. TLIE has relationships with several organizations which can provide excess and other types of insurance. Texas Lawyers' Professional Insurance Agency (TLPIA), a wholly owned subsidiary of TLIE, is a managing general agent. TLPIA has contracted Texas Associates to market a number of types of coverage. LawPro Insurance Agency is a local recording agent for TLPIA, specializing in employment practices liability insurance and excess insurance over the limits provided by TLIE. LawPro is owned by certain key employees of TLIE, who receive no additional compensation for their work on behalf of LawPro. Texas Associates is an independent local recording agent which can provide general liability, commercial property and auto, workers' compensation, bonds, and other such coverages.
