Info

Image Microsystems is committed to being a leader in determining better methods to control the growing amount of obsolete electronics that are threatening the world's resources. Meeting this environmental commitment means finding improved ways for dealing with this increasing flood of e-waste. An important step in this regard is Image's partnership with a leading environmental research institution, Texas Tech University (TTU). The on-going research by Dr. Hong-Chao Zhang, Ph.D., P.E. at the Center for Applied Research in Advanced Manufacturing at Texas Tech University is investigating new ways to introduce forward thinking in both engineering methodology as well as intellectual property technology to influence priorities regarding how new computer products and components are conceived to have a more environmental friendly impact on the earth at their end-of-life. An innovative roadmap is being identified that allows computer product manufacturers to plan ahead for minimizing environmental impact. This collaborative agreement is an on-going research initiative in the area of computer component recycling technologies. Image Microsystems has gone as far as defining its Austin based facility as a "Research Laboratory" available to TTU for the research and improvement of recycling processes of E-waste. "One of the most critical areas in any research is the ability to gather real industry data. From the Texas Tech partnership with Image Microsystems, paired with Images' "Asset Recovery and Recycling" partnership with Dell Inc., which will generate a large volume of material.
