Founded in 1870, Harriman is one of the oldest A/E firms in the nation, working throughout New England on education, healthcare, retail, and corporate projects. Since its earliest beginnings, the culture of the firm has integrated the art of architecture and the science of engineering. George Coombs, the founder of the firm and a renowned Maine architect, was noted for his exceptional skill in structural engineering. Coombs' work encompassed a wide range of prominent civic and institutional buildings, many of which are still in use today. This legacy inspires us to continue to pursue creative partnerships with clients to design relevant and innovative solutions to their needs.
