Info
NMS, which focuses on online business intelligence and word-of-mouth marketing, has established a place on the Network for Good Web site where employees can make donations to their choice of charities, including the American Red Cross, Mercy Corp. and Feed the Children. "After reading firsthand accounts of Katrina's devastation on blogs and seeing the countless images of suffering families on TV, we wanted to do something to help", says founder and CEO Pete Snyder. "Given that Louisianans are well represented on New Media Strategies' staff, we knew we had to lend a hand to friends and kinfolks in need." Since its inception in 1999, NMS has helped build a sense of community both online and off. After the Sept. 11 attaches, it encouraged employees to help "boost" the D.C. economy by reimbursing them $100 for every $150 spent in local restaurants, bars and hotels in the months following the attacks. NMS also has a partnership with the Pediatric AIDs Foundation of D.C., and every week employees spend an evening teaching and entertaining children with AIDS or a relative with AIDS. The company also works with the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children by using its experience in online intelligence to help the center.
