The Biotechnology Institute began operations in the offices of the Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO) in Washington, DC. The Institute was created in 1998 by a group of leading biotech companies, biotechnology centers, and BIO to be an independent, credible, and science-based national education organization. The Biotechnology Institute now directs national educational competitions that reach a wide spectrum of audiences. Involvement in the Institute’s programs gives organizations visibility and the opportunity to connect with the communities that their programs serve.
