The Trout Museum of Art is located in the Fox Cities Building for the Arts at 111 W. College Avenue in Appleton. It was established as Appleton Art Center in 1960 with a mission to promote, teach and nourish the creation and appreciation of the visual arts. A 2010 gift from Dr. Monroe E. and Sandra Trout of over 150 museum-quality works of art and along with an endowment realized the organization's dream of maintaining a permanent collection. The Trout Museum of Art's mission is to excite the community about the visual arts. This is accomplished through a variety of activities, including exhibitions, educational programming, art classes and special events such as the annual Art in the Park artist exhibitor festival, lectures, workshops, family fun days, musical performances and an annual exhibit for local artists.
