At their recent annual 2004 national conference, the National Association of Mortgage Field Services (NAMFS) announced the endorsement of the Field-Comm software system developed by East Point Systems as the official NAMFS field software platform. This move will have a major effect on the industry by providing a method to standardize data formats and communications. Until now the mortgage field service industry has been handicapped by its reliance upon a multitude of disparate software systems and websites to communicate with independent field contractors and inspectors. By standardizing on the Field-Comm system, contractors in the field and national field service companies will have the ability to seamlessly exchange orders, results, photos, and other communications using a single system. This ground-breaking endorsement grew out of the recognition by NAMFS that a standardized format for reporting field information to the national field service companies would enhance its membership's ability to provide significantly more efficient and accurate service. In the announcement, NAMFS President Alan Bunker described how NAMFS and East Point Systems had recognized this industry-wide problem some time ago. Bunker further explained that East Point, through a series of developmental phases, had created an electronic "bridge" that could seamlessly link contractors in the field to already existing systems at any national field service company. East Point confirms that several major national service companies are actively preparing to connect to the Field-Comm platform over the next few months. Field-Comm has been in use in the field since 1996 and has been widely accepted by the independent field contractors. Its ability to consolidate work received from multiple national companies and lenders into a single tracking, billing, and processing system that manages all of the work in a field contractor's office are among the many features that have made Field-Comm popular in the field. There is also a Tablet PC edition of Field-Comm that employs web services to exchange photos, work orders, and reports between the contractor's office and its subcontractors or employees in the field. Field-Comm's feature rich environment combined with its ability to seamlessly connect the field contractor offices to the national service companies, provides a unifying platform for communications and work order processing across the entire mortgage field services industry.
