Alaska Dance Theatre, Inc. (ADT), founded in 1981, is the premiere nonprofit dance organization in Alaska. ADT's mission is to promote dance through professional education, performance and advocacy in Alaska and to provide a recognized artistic element within the dance community for local and visiting artists to expand their creative talent while nurturing discipline, confidence, fitness and the experience of movement. Believing that dance is for everyone Alaska Dance theatre strives to keep its programs affordable to a wide range of the population. Alaska Dance Theatre is proud to be the recipient of the Mayor's 2004 Youth Arts Award and the 2005 Governor's Award for the Arts in recognition of our commitment to teaching art to young people and the impact our work has had on the community.
