Trees being cut during that era had been maturing for hundreds of years; once harvested, they were put to use in the construction of homes, barns, factories, and mills. Today, this outstanding dense wood is only obtainable through the reclamation of early American structures. Antique Building Products locates and acquires 18th- through early 20th- century factories, barns, and homes that are headed for demolition, and salvages the scarce antique wood. The wood is first de-nailed and kiln-dried to ensure the correct moisture content, and to eliminate any existing insects. It is then rigorously graded into our product selection. Years of aging and exposure to weather have given these materials an incomparably rich patina that emerges through our milling process.
