MENSI was founded in Paris, France in 1987 by Auguste D'Aligny and Michel Paramythioti to develop and market 3D laser scanning technology and 3D modeling software. Working closely with Electricite de France (EDF) to solve specific problems relating to the decommissioning of nuclear power plants, MENSI enjoyed a rapid rise to the top of the market delivering proven solutions to the electric power industry. It was also recognized as having a key role to play in the field of historic and cultural preservation. Holding numerous international patents on its proprietary technology, the company expanded on its initial success by developing support for a wide range of business and industrial requirements. In 1997, MENSI recruited Tristan Grimbert to develop and manage a plan for growth and expansion into world markets. This period marked the rapid commercialization of its product line and the penetration of additional key industrial market sectors. MENSI achieved considerable growth during the latter half of the 90s as it gained many new accounts throughout the world. In 1999, MENSI, Inc. opened in Atlanta, Georgia to further the company's progress throughout the Americas and enhance its presence throughout the international marketplace. The success of the US office encouraged MENSI to open MENSI, K.K headed up by Mr. Terry Morita. The objectives were to strengthen and expand MENSI,s presence as the 3D laser scanning and modeling leader in Japan. MENSI K.K. is already on the tracks since Sanyu Technos Plant Engineers, one of the largest plant and facility design companies acquired a MENSI 3D laser scanner S25 and a license of the point-cloud modeling software 3Dipsos. The partnership between MENSI K.K. and SANYU will enhance better service to other engineering companies and plant owners especially since MENSI K.K. just moved in the same building where SANYU is renting offices.
