Alex Staley, with the initial vision to provide alternative solutions to meeting project management and controls needs for large programs. With that vision in mind, AMS set out to recruit and develop the nation's best expertise in project planning and scheduling, financial controls, and project management systems. With the addition of Laurence E. Smith in 1998, one of the pre-eminent risk management consultants in the world, AMS was able to continue to expand its practice areas, by providing more sophisticated consulting capabilities in the area of project risk management. Mr. Staley envisioned an organization that would only grow as fast as its performance would allow, ensuring that AMS maintained a commitment to a high-level of service and quality. The vision of creating a true consulting organization, as opposed to a "job-shop", has driven the growth and strategic direction of AMS since its inception.
