Le Café Miche & Wine Bar now provides free wireless internet access to customers who bring their laptop computers to lunch on weekdays. The Wine Bar, previously open only during the evening, now serves the restaurant's regular lunch menu to its "Internet Café" diners from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Claus Hjortkjaer (pronounced YORT-care), chef and co-owner of Le Café Miche, said the restaurant always has been a popular venue for business lunches, and adding Internet access "is just another way to serve our business customers." "Now our diners can bring in their laptops, check their e-mail, write andsend letters or memos, update files, or just learn the score of the latest Lobos basketball game. In brief, a customer now has an acceptable place to do a little work, maybe make a computer-screen business presentation to a client, and have a civilized lunch at the same time," Hjortkjaer said. Creating the Internet Café was a joint project by Le Café Miche and INX, a company specializing in setting up internet and network systems for business firms. INX provided the equipment and programming needed to provide wireless Internet access. While laptop computers and cell phones now are welcome in the Wine Bar, their use is discouraged in the restaurant dining room.
