Info
At Maple Craft USA, we date our beginning back to the business philosophy of our grandfathers, William Kaufer and Lyle Tucker. Both men embodied a strong work ethic. Bill spent 40+ years as a mechanic on the Bessemer and Lake Erie Railroad. Lyle poured his heart into what used to be known as the general store called Tucker's Hardware. These men were self taught, depression wise, and heart felt servants of the Lord, being salt and light to the small rural community of Albion, Pennsylvania. In 1959, Dave and Shirley Kaufer, married and decided to settle in the town of their birth. They bought a failing propane/bottled gas and gas appliance business. Shortly after, Dave was called into active duty during the Berlin Wall crisis. Shirley was thrust into service on the home front learning how to run the new business while Dave was away. Returning home, Dave and Shirley had a dream to expand the business to other home necessities. It was the day of small town reliance upon locally owned stores, before the introduction of what we now know as the mega stores. A hand shake and a smile was all it took to seal the deal. Kaufer's Furniture and Appliance operated for 25 years, providing not only gas and electric appliances, but also furniture, flooring, and kitchen cabinets. As business changed and as their sons grew, a new and larger horizon began to dawn for the Kaufer family. Seeing the need in the market for machined woodworking components to cabinet-makers, furniture makers, commercial and residential builders, remodelers, and other wood working enthusiasts, we moved the focus of our business toward a world wide market. Today son Steve (President) and his wife Marilyn (VP) carry on this legacy into what is now called Maple Craft USA. The business has evolved over the years taking various forms. MCUSA moved into woodworking component sales in the 80's and early 90's. Originally having a regional focus, Maple Craft now offers products throughout the USA, as well as to overseas markets. When MCUSA started in this end of the business in the early 80's, most cabinet shops were making their own cabinet doors and drawer boxes. We have worked hard to earn trust along the way as our customer's risked outsourcing products, many for the first time. In earning our customers trust, we also offer them fixed costs on their materials and more work going through their shop. As many of our customers have learned, profits are higher when a company can learn to outsource successfully. At Maple Craft we offer our customers an honest business ethic, always trying to provide great products at competitive prices and with on time delivery. Customers tell us, ‘You did what you said you would do! Your products are as good as you told us they would be! And they arrived when you said they would!' We are thrilled when our customers are thrilled! Then they end up telling others about us. It is truly amazing to see how our company has evolved. Dating back to our founder's hard work and Christian morals, we have been influenced greatly. As owners we try to be ‘salt and light' and to make an impact upon our industry for the Lord. History is repeating itself as Maple Craft USA grows step by step. Honoring the generations before while keeping an eye on future potential. MCUSA strives to embody it's simple Mission Focus:Great Products!
