Governors America Corporation (GAC) is a privately held corporation, established in 1986, and located in Agawam, Massachusetts. GAC is vertically integrated with complete design, development, production, and marketing capabilities for a family of electromechanical and electronic devices utilized for precise engine control. The innovative engine control products, the results of this focused effort, are being used in a variety of industries, which include generator set, material handling, marine propulsion, mining, locomotive, and off-highway applications. GAC has developed a broad, technically advanced line of Electronic Governing and Fuel Control Systems, complete with accessories. Complete installation kits suitable for a variety of engines are available. Engine control systems range in cost and complexity from single speed isochronous governors to sophisticated multi-engine load sharing / power control systems, full authority drive-by-wire systems, locomotive diesel electric controls, military nuclear hardened engine governors and a great variety of complementing governor system accessory components. New governing system components are constantly being developed to compliment and expand GAC's general engine controls capability. To maintain its leadership in the engine controls field, GAC has incorporated advanced technologies into its latest product developments. Full authority, 32 bit digital engine controls, as well as new feature-enhanced analog controls, are examples of some of GAC's new electronic developments. GAC also designs and manufactures custom electro-magnetic integral actuators. These high performance linear and rotary actuators are designed to optimally control a specific engine's fuel system. Some units include GAC's own high accuracy position sensing system. Electronic assembly starts with state-of-the-art automatic Surface Mount Technology (SMT) machines. Automated through hole component and IC placement machines complete the fabrication process. The assembly process finishes with semi automatic board testing using computer data gathering and control. CNC machining centers provide accurate, low cost machining of our complicated castings and fabrication of various other parts. GAC's customer base extends to all corners of the world. Engine control systems are currently provided to over 1000 customers, including engine manufacturers, engine distributors, and OEMs that utilize industrial engines as part of their products.
