Open Door was founded by Dr. C. L. Easley in September 2000. With just 80 members who met at the Crispus Attucks Community Center in York, PA. He had been pastoring a denominational church called Shiloh Baptist Church in York, PA. While pastoring the denominational church, Bishop Easley experienced another major supernatural move of God in his life and the life of that church. The Ministry of the Holy Spirit as it relates to being baptized in the Holy Ghost, speaking in tongues, and laying on of hands, etc., had not been taught in his denominational church. However, after experiencing extreme persecution as a result of trying to convert the church on more than one occasion., he was led to start and establish a new church. The new church would be called Open Door Christian Fellowship Church International based on Revelation 3:8, which says, " ... behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it ... " A church that would model the New Testament. A church that would be Bible based, purpose driven and Holy Spirit led. A church that would be a Spirit-filled community of faith and not a board driven church. A church that would be free to obey God! So on Sunday, September 3, 2000, the Open Door Christian Fellowship Church was born. With a strong witness from God, Bishop led his congregation to purchase the former Good Shepherd Lutheran Church located at 155 S. Hartley Street in York, PA on Sunday, September 2, 2001.
