ICS Medical develops and manufactures products for the diagnosis of hearing and balance disorders. Our products include training and support services that make these systems exceptionally valuable to medical professionals in the field of otoneurology. Part of the GN ReSound Group (www.gnresound.com) since being acquired by parent company GN Great Nordic in December, 2000, ICS Medical is an industry leader known for innovation. Until the acquisition, ICS was a privately held corporation founded in 1981. Its predecessor company pioneered the development and commercialization of electronystagmographs (ENG), instrumentation that records and measures eye movements that contribute to the diagnosis of balance disorders. Throughout its history, ICS Medical has maintained its leadership position through such innovations as introducing the first commercial computer-based electronystagmograph, which integrated optical and caloric stimuli into the testing process. Our products were also the first to utilize Windows software. ICS is currently the world's leading supplier of videonystagmography (VNG), a recent innovation in the diagnosis of balance disorders that tracks eye position by analyzing video images. We were also the first to apply PC technology to rotary vestibular testing (RVT), another powerful tool in the arsenal for balance disorder diagnosis. More than twice as many medical professionals use ICS Medical systems for balance disorder diagnosis as use any other similar system in the world. ICS also manufactures and markets a wide range of instrumentation systems for audiologic testing. These include our CHARTR EP (evoked potential) system, which provides tests of the neurologic system that supports hearing. ICS also offers CHARTR OAE which measures otoacoustic emissions in order to assess the function of the cochlea. To complement these devices, particularly when testing infants, ICS has added a tympanometry screening device. Together, these instruments provide a complete set of tests for infant screening follow-up, the process by which newborn babies can take initial steps toward hearing rehabilitation. An important contributor to ICS Medical's success is the worldwide network of independent distributor organizations that represent our products. These organizations contribute training and support services that ensure availability of systems (minimal down time) and high clinical value (knowledgeable operators).
