The Real Estate Mediation Center maintains highly skilled staff well versed in real estate and how the mediation clause works within the real estate contracts. When you call REMC you will be greeted by one of our staff who will assist you with how to file your mediation request form. You will also be sent a Real Estate Mediation Guidebook that will reiterate the information given in the telephone consultation. What are the benefits of this staff:If you are a member of the public: You can call REMC to discuss the details of mediation and receive some guidance as to how to prepare your request form. Staff is able to review the request to be sure its details are clear for responding parties. Staff will then contact responding parties on their behalf so that staff becomes the neutral point of contact which takes the burden off the requesting party. The less friction between the parties the better, it does impact how things proceed and scheduling. If you are an Attorney: Time is money. REMC staff believes our function is to take the burden off the attorney and/or its office in processing the mediation from filing to scheduling. Once it's filed, the attorney does not have to worry about anything until they receive a telephone call from staff to schedule a date. Then they just show up and mediate. Additionally, if the mediation matter is not cost effective for attorney representation, as an attorney you can refer them to REMC with the confidence their clients will receive the best service. REMC staff also believes that if the clients become unsure of their rights, we will not advise them but refer them back to their attorney. If you are a REALTOR®: REMC wants to make it easy for you. REMC knows you should not be advising your clients on the mediation clause, but that you want to assist them in their resolution. REMC staff is happy to take those calls to walk clients through the process and handle the scheduling of their matter.
