The church was founded on September 25, 1960. The Temple of the Living God of St. Petersburg, Inc., is an independent, non-denominational Interfaith Metaphysical Community Church that provides church services, educational classes, a prayer ministry, a bookstore, Psychic Fairs, workshops, seminars, conferences, Spiritual Retreats, fund-raising events, social activities, community outreach and other functions and activities that support the stated purposes of the organization. The founders drew the church's name from 2 Corinthians 6:16, "For ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people."
