Dr. Sonstein performs complex spine surgery with a specialty in Posterior Lumbar Interbody Fusion (PLIF). This procedure relieves pain for patients with intractable back pain. Dr. Sonstein uses minimally invasive procedures whenever possible, such as Kyphoplasty and X-STOP™ to treat spinal compression fractures and spinal stenosis. Dr. Sonstein is Chief of Neurosurgery at LIJ-North Shore University Hospital at Plainview. He completed a highly specialized Fellowship in Spine Surgery at Tampa General Hospital, University of South Florida, Tampa, Florida. Dr. Sonstein served as Chief Resident in his final year of Residency in Neurosurgery at Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein, Bronx, NY.
