Description of Reserve Silica Corp

Reserve Silica Corporation is a reliable supplier of quality silica sands, free of contaminants, and meeting the requirements of our unique customer base -- "The right sand for the right product." Reserve Silica Corporation owns 377 acres of land where it operates an open pit sand mine and processing plant near Ravensdale, Washington, about 30 miles southeast of Seattle. The operation has existed since the early 1970's. Our sand comes from a deposit laid down over 50 million years ago. It is mined by open pit methods and then transported approximately one mile to our processing plant. The plant manufactures specialty sands for the glass container industry, the golf course industry, and as a component in construction materials such as concrete. The sand goes through several processes that include crushing, washing, screening, and attritioning. The golf course bunker sand, known as Tan Bunker Sand or Ravensdale Sand, is specially designed for use in golf course bunkers (both greenside and fairway bunkers). This sand is also used by the construction industry for its unique color and sizing. The sand for the glass container industry is further processed by drying, screening, and magnetic separation. The plant also has an onsite analysis lab where quality control tests are performed daily to ensure proper sizing of finished products, and to measure the glass sand's iron (Fe2O3) and aluminum (Al2O3) content.
