Description of Maine Bank & Trust Company
Maine Bank & Trust Company was established in 1991 by a well-known Maine philanthropist, Elizabeth B. Noyce. The Bank was formed during a recession in Maine, and at a time of major upheaval in the Maine banking industry. It was Mrs. Noyce's vision to establish the Bank to fulfill the need in Maine for a locally managed commercial bank and trust company, "a maine bank for maine people." The Bank currently operates 12 full-service banking offices in southern Maine, covering Cumberland, York and Androscoggin Counties, including its main office in Portland. Management is committed to distinguishing the Bank from larger institutions by providing high quality, individualized and responsive service. The Bank's strategic plan centers around the design and establishment of a customer-convenient branch network which can efficiently deliver the Bank's products and services. The Bank provides customer conveniences such as easily accessible locations, usually with drive-up capability, and a friendly, knowledgeable staff. The Bank's 12 branches are fully staffed with Bank officers who can offer a broad range of products and services. The branches maintain convenient hours, including Saturdays, in order to meet the banking needs of the community. The Bank conducts a general commercial and retail banking business that includes the acceptance of deposits from small and medium-sized businesses and the general public, and the investment of those funds in a variety of commercial, real estate and consumer loans. Total assets at December 31, 2002 exceeded $280 million. The Bank has also offered trust and investment services to individual and commercial customers since its inception, and had approximately $550 million in trust assets at December 31, 2002.
