Description of National Transportation & Logistics Association
The National Transportation & Logistics Association (NTLA) is a representative organization of thought leaders focused on the last mile sector of the scheduled transportation industry. The NTLA is comprised of last miles couriers, shippers and suppliers to the constituents along the supply chain. Since 1990, the unprecedented outsourcing of private endpoint delivery networks by processors, wholesalers, distributors, and other sectors of corporate America has enabled the traditional messenger & courier industry to assume a critical role in the "last mile" of the business-to-business supply chain. Local presence, a willingness to create dedicated networks with customized schedules at a superior price point, and an emphasis on "same day" pick-up or delivery have been key attributes to enabling this little known piece of the transportation industry to carve out a high volume segment from larger, better known ground alternatives. The NTLA has committed to make the investment, build the programs necessary to establish meaningful standards, and document compliance for the last mile industry. To prepare for this new direction, the NTLA has established a Board of Directors and formed a Shippers Advisory Council. This shift moves NTLA closer to realizing a couple of objectives; ensuring alignment with the needs of the shippers, fostering an environment of inclusiveness and providing a platform for encouraging connections. NTLA programs naturally connect shippers, national carriers, regional/local carriers, and key resources in technology, insurance, risk management, and driver administration services.
