For over 80 years, Wauwatosa Savings Bank has served local communities as an independent mutual financial institution known for its tradition of fiscal stability and community involvement. With offices in Wauwatosa , Oak Creek , Oconomowoc, Pewaukee, and Waukesha, Wauwatosa Savings Bank offers mortgage products, checking, savings, certificates of deposit, money market and IRA accounts. Local businessman and elected official, Edward F. Geske was the individual who successfully guided the organization from its inception in 1921 through the depression years and into the early 1970's. Because of his leadership role from the beginning, Geske is deemed the founder of Wauwatosa Building and Loan, which today is Wauwatosa Savings Bank. He was one of a group of Wauwatosa businessmen who started the building and loan. At the time, he was also the Town Clerk for Wauwatosa and an insurance agent. Geske became the "Secretary" of the new association. He handled all of the day-to-day operations and management of the business. It was his practical and conservative guidance, his aptitude for building stability and his desire to serve the people of Wauwatosa and other area communities that led to the growth and success of Wauwatosa Savings today.
