Description of St. John's Well Child and Family Center
SJWCFC is the lead agency in two major First 5 LA collaborative initiatives: the School Readiness Program and the Best Babies/Healthy Births Initiative. St. John's is a founding member of the Southside Coalition of Community Health Centers, a partnership of the seven nonprofit community health centers that serve South Los Angeles which coordinate health care access and services in L.A.'s most underserved community. St. John's collaborates with the All Stars Talent Show Network, founded over 20 years ago in New York City, to bring youth development programs and community talent shows that build self-esteem and a sense of achievement among our youth, to inner city Los Angeles. SJWCFC is a partner in the Rescatando Salud immunization project with Esperanza Community Housing Corporation's Community Health Promotion program, MotherNet L.A. and the Los Angeles County Immunization Program to increase immunization rates in downtown Los Angeles, and among African American children in Compton. St. John's Well Child and Family Center is committed to offering progressive, independent and creative programs that support the physical, emotional, developmental and economic health of our community. We are continuing to meet the increasing need of our growing communities with effective, efficient and innovative programs. We look forward to continuing that work for many, many years to come.
