Description of Harris Pest Control Inc
Harris Pest Control was established in 1973 when the Federal Government gave each family a $200 rebate as a stimulus for a flagging economy. Bob Harris worked for a national trucking company at that time, and was facing a transfer to North Carolina. Not wanting to uproot his family again, he used the $200 and the knowledge he had acquired from previous employment, and began Harris Pest Control. His first customers were his fellow truckers. When the transfer came, Bob, not having enough customers to support his family by pest control alone went to Rocky Mount, N.C. to continue driving and provide pest control for his customer there. During this time his wife, Loretta, still in Florence, S.C. with their three children, provided the service for their existing Florence area customers. When the business had grown to the point where supplementary income was no longer necessary, Bob and Loretta gave the family pest control business their entire dedication. Their sons, Tim and Roger, grew up with the business and currently share management responsibilities. Harris Pest Control currently employees fifteen men and women and provides pest control service for all areas of Florence, Darlington, and Williamsburg counties of South Carolina. We provide service for all household pests as well as termite, CL-100s, moisture, and nuisance wildlife control. We provide services in homes as well as commercial and industrial properties. We are members of the National Pest Control Association, the South Carolina Pest Control Association, where all three Harris men have served on the board of directors, and the South-Eastern Nuisance Wildlife Operators Association, as well as supporting the local Pee Dee Pest Control Association.
