Description of Roosevelt Care Center

We have been providing quality health care services to the people of Middlesex County and surrounding communities for more than 70 years. Our staff provides the highest level of personalized long-term and rehabilitative care available in the region. We are dedicated to enhancing our residents' quality of life while preserving their dignity and privacy.Roosevelt Care Center (RCC) is conveniently located in Edison, NJ, in the center of Middlesex County, and is owned and operated by the Middlesex County Improvement Authority (MCIA). In the latest survey by the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services (NJDOH), Roosevelt Care Center earned Advisory Standards, which represents a commitment by a long term care facility to exceed minimum requirements in the provision of services to its residents. Barbara Goldman, assistant director at NJDOH, wrote, "We appreciate your efforts to provide your residents with a high quality environment and we hope our recognition of this effort is helpful to you in continuing to achieve a high standard of care in your facility." Our 20-acre campus, overlooking a lake, sits on the edge of beautiful Roosevelt Park and is adjacent to Menlo Park Mall. We are within a mile of the Garden State Parkway, the New Jersey Turnpike, I-287, U.S. Rt. 1 and Rt. 27. The main building in the RCC complex was constructed during the 1930s and is now on the National Register of Historic Places. It was an undertaking of the Works Project Administration (WPA) and was named in honor of the creator of that program, President Franklin D. Roosevelt. For many years, Roosevelt served as the Middlesex County tuberculosis hospital. In the 1950s, it was converted to a long-term-care facility, and rehabilitation and recreation programs were added. The annex building on the other side of Parsonage Road was completed in 1964, and a major addition (A Zone) to the main building opened in 1982. A new 180-bed facility has opened at the annex site, and the Middlesex County Board of Freeholders has taken action to acquire land in Old Bridge Township for the construction of another 180-bed long term care center. A renovation of the historic building to create senior and/or handicapped apartments is also being studied. If you must make a decision about rehabilitative or long-term care for yourself or someone you love, we invite you to browse through our site and learn more about Roosevelt. We understand that decisions like this affect entire families, and our team of skilled professionals is ready to help you make the right choice. © Copyright 2003, Middlesex County Improvement Authority | Site designed by The Marcus Group, Inc., Little Falls, NJ | Contact Us
