The Association of Financial Planners (AFP) was established in April 2001 through the contributions of prominent financial services companies. It is a non-profit professional association dedicated to developing and promoting an industry providing unbiased financial advice to the Indian public. AFP is also committed to maintaining high standards of technical competence, fair dealing and integrity among its members. AFP is part of a global assembly of financial planning associations. The International CFP Council (the Council) was established in 1990 as an international assembly of financial planning associations, and promotes professionalism in financial planning. AFP is the fifteenth member of the Council. As the Indian affiliate of the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards (CFP Board), AFP will oversee the administration of the internationally recognized Certified Financial PlannerÔ professional certification process.
