Cherry Bomb is a Free CD and Free DVD publication that debuted in September of 2003. A Free CD is a compilation CD of fifteen to twenty bands that is paid for by advertising. The advertisers receive their logo on the back of the disc's packaging, and in turn the discs are given away for free through these businesses, or at other demographically appropriate locations. Similarly, a Free DVD is a compilation of short films and music videos, but the added difference is that the advertisers receive a 30-second commercial inserted onto the DVD between the shorts. The Free CD and the Free DVD are useful because they help people connect with new bands, filmmakers, and ideas. Furthermore, the Free CD and the Free DVD can direct an interested person to an artist's website, where artists can communicate more ideas and sell their work directly.
